'ZDNET Recommends': What exactly does it mean?

ZDNET's recommendations are based on many hours of testing, research, and comparison shopping. We gather data from the best available sources, including vendor and retailer listings as well as other relevant and independent reviews sites. And we pore over customer reviews to find out what matters to real people who already own and use the products and services we’re assessing.

When you click through from our site to a retailer and buy a product or service, we may earn affiliate commissions. This helps support our work, but does not affect what we cover or how, and it does not affect the price you pay. Neither ZDNET nor the author are compensated for these independent reviews. Indeed, we follow strict guidelines that ensure our editorial content is never influenced by advertisers.

ZDNET's editorial team writes on behalf of you, our reader. Our goal is to deliver the most accurate information and the most knowledgeable advice possible in order to help you make smarter buying decisions on tech gear and a wide array of products and services. Our editors thoroughly review and fact-check every article to ensure that our content meets the highest standards. If we have made an error or published misleading information, we will correct or clarify the article. If you see inaccuracies in our content, please report the mistake via this form.

Jackery has given the Explorer 2000 Pro an upgrade to bring it into 2024, and is also slashing the price for the launch sale. The Explorer 2000 v2 is an updated version of Explorer 2000 Pro, giving it a few much-needed upgrades.

While the 2,000Wh capacity and 2,200W power output remain the same, the lithium-ion batteries are replaced by LiFePO4 cells, which not only gives the unit a much longer lifespan – 4,000 recharge cycles versus the previous 1,000 cycles – but makes the unit safer and enables it to be a bit smaller and lighter compared to the Explorer 2000 Pro.

The fold-down handle is space-saving and makes carrying the 17 kg unit more bearable.

This unit also features ChargeShield 2.0, offering advanced protections for the batteries and attached devices, and efficient charging.

Because this unit is designed to be used a home backup system, it's output sound level is only 30 db so that it won't disturb anyone's sleep or sanity.

Jackery claims that this is the smallest, lightest LiFePO4-powered backup power unit on the market, making it perfect for both in-home use and moving about for camping or outdoor work tasks.

The optional 200W SolarSaga solar panels give this unit true off-grid capabilities.

The Explorer 2000 v2 has a retail price of $1,400, but for a limited time you can pick it up for $1,099 from Jackery (or $999 from Amazon if you are a Prime member).

If you want a solar generator kit that comes with a pair of 200W SolarSaga solar panels, this will normally retail for $2,499, but for a limited time, you can get $900 off and grab the whole kit for the bargain price of $1,599 from Jackery or Amazon if you are a Prime member.
